Shakespeare in Love is a twist on the traditional "Romeo and Juliet." If you were making this into a film who would you cast and why? Would you leave any pieces of the play out/change anything to make the story different? Why do you think that your version of the movie would be successful?

If I were making a film about Romeo and Juliet, I would try to keep to the play as much as possible. I think I would cast Blake Lively as Juliet and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Romeo. I also think that Mercutio is a very important character in the play, so I would make sure to cast a talented actor for him; maybe someone like Michael Cera to add a bit of comedic relief and dramatic flare. Because Mercutio is my favorite character, I think I would really try to play up his part in the film, maybe put him in a few more scenes and add a few more lines.
ReplyDeleteI also think that there could even be a film version where Juliet falls for Mercutio instead of Romeo. I would use the same film characters and then the drama would be between Romeo and Mercutio. I think that this type of film would be very successful because it is different than anything that has been done before.
